Indmar Supra Wakesurfing Engine Wins IBEX Innovation Award

Supra Boats (@SupraBoats) just received word that the new 345 Assault CAT engine, built exclusively for Supra by Indmar Marine Engines for extreme wake sports, has received a 2011 Innovation Award at IBEX.

Indmar Marine Engines was honored with innovative achievement for the new Supra 345 Assault CAT engine by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Boating Writers International (BWI). The award ceremony took place at the 2011 International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) Innovation Awards in Louisville. Indmar received the 2011 IBEX Innovation Award during the annual IBEX Industry Breakfast at the Kentucky Exposition Center on October 17, 2011.

The Innovation Awards, organized by NMMA and judged by BWI, recognize those products that best meet the following criteria: innovative distinction from other products currently being manufactured; benefit to the marine industry and/or consumer; practicality; cost-effectiveness; and availability to the consumer within 60 days of award receipt. A total of 65 new products were entered in this year’s IBEX Innovation Awards program.

“The winners recognized at IBEX today are a testament to the ongoing commitment to boating ingenuity necessary to the future of our industry,” noted NMMA President Thom Dammrich. “It’s encouraging to see companies focus their efforts on forward-thinking solutions to help consumers and further the industry, and I’m excited to see how these products adapt in the market.”

“Wakesurfing is rapidly growing in popularity,” noted judge Brady Kay. “However, the strain on engines required proactive engineering to reduce engine failure. Indmar has a workhorse for rugged watersports.”

The first of it's kind, the 345 Assault CAT engine was developed by Indmar in cooperation with Supra Boats to perform and protect when pulling wake making sports. A specially designed air-oil separator prevents oil induction to the PCV during monster wakesurfing sessions. This Supra engine was engineered to help boat owners take full advantage of its 345 horsepower and amazing 370 ft-lbs of torque day after day on the water. Indmar along with Supra is leading wake boats to the future with a new power plant that is built for lasting performance, no matter how extreme the riding conditions.
