Supra Boats @Supra_Boats Junior Factory Team Rider Cory Teunissen is getting even more press now that he is back home in Australia. Club Marine Magazine featured this up-and-coming young wakeboarder in their October/November issue. With a subscriber base of nearly 100,000 this is a big deal for the 14-year-old shredder form Down Under.
Standing on the podium holding the winner’s trophy for the Rockstar Energy WWA Wakeboarding World Championships held recently in Pleasant Prairie, USA presented by Supra Boats, a beaming 14-year-old Cory Teunissen (pictured) grinned into the cameras and looked as pleased as a kid in a candy store. The Brisbane Boys College student from Fig Tree Pocket, Qld, has the world talking about his talent. At 14, Cory has just won the World Wakeboard Championship title in Junior Men’s (14-18) and has no intention of stopping there.
Almost straight after the world titles, Cory flew to Chuncheon, Korea to represent Australia in the IWWF Asian, Australasian and Oceanian Wakeboard Championships. Cory competed in a very hot field of talented wakeboard riders in the Open Men’s category and came second – a fantastic achievement, especially since all other riders were considerably older than him.
Cory’s success hasn’t come overnight. His extraordinary talent has grown steadily since he began waterskiing under the watchful eye of his dad, Jeff Teunissen, at the tender age of two, along with his then three-year-old brother, Brad. Cory claimed his first world title last year when he won the WWA Wakeboarding World Championships in the Boys’ Division (10 to 13).
At the moment, Cory is looking forward to the Aussie summer before he returns to the USA next year to take part in the Pro Wakeboard Tour. Club Marine readers may recall reading about the Teunissen brothers in the February/March 2010 issue. Club Marine is proud to continue supporting the Teunissen brothers, and wishes Cory a well-deserved summer break.
Great write-up Club Marine Magazine! Thanks for showing our Cory T. the love. He definitely deserves it!
