Supra Boats (@Supra_Boats) social media channels were swarming with Team Supra Boats (#TeamSupraBoats) updates this past weekend from the Wake Games. Supra Pro and Amateur Team Riders went off at the first King of Wake event of the 2014 season. They went from training behind the WWA World Wakeboard Championship Supra SA550 all winter to taking their riding beyond better and collecting winning performances in competition.
Thousands of fans flocked to Orlando Water Sports Complex for a dramatic final day of competition at Wake Games presented by Rockstar. The season opening event did not disappoint, delivering classic final round showdowns resulting in a slough of victories and top finishes for Team Supra Boats.
Team Supra Boats World Champion Pro Wakeskater Reed Hansen dominated in his highly competitive division, piecing together a near flawless run that included a huge switch 360 and front side 180 melon grab. Cory Teunissen bested the Junior Pro Men Wakeboard with a great performance edging out his competition. 11-year-old Supra Amateur Team Rider Sam Brown swamped the Boys Wakeboard division with an amazing display of top tier tricks. Austin Hair earned 4th overall in Pro Men Wakeboard. Bec Gange finished top five in the Pro Women Wakeboard division laying it all on the line in finals landing a her first Dumb Dumb in competition.
Wake Games also includes a team competition element. 10 preselected pro riders serve as team captains and hosted a live draft after yesterday’s competition consisting of the 90 remaining athletes who advanced past the initial qualifying rounds. Over the course of the final two days of competition, the athletes compete in their respective divisions, which are separated by age, sex and skill level, while contributing points toward a team score based on their individual placement in that division. This year’s Wake Games overall team winner went to Team Austin Hair.
When asked about his team's success at Wake Games, Rick Tinker, President of Supra Boats, had this to say, "Performances like the Supra Boats Team displayed this past weekend are proof that character results in wins." Tinker, explained, "The Supra Boats Pro Team is much more than a group of sponsored athletes. They are our family. We are fans of them as people and teammates as much as professional competitors. They are dedicated ambassadors of the boat brand that helps them win, but more importantly they represent Supra Boats with poise and character. That is a big reason why they continue to succeed in their sports." Tinker summed it up with, "We are Supra proud of Team Supra Boats!"
